A project that makes basic financial concepts accessible to people in Nicaragua with little or no financial education.
NicaFinanzas began with a social purpose: to make basic financial concepts accessible to people with little or no background in the subject. I want more people in Nicaragua to understand their money and the everyday decisions that affect it, through clear explanations and relatable examples.
The project combines salary, loan, and severance calculators with educational guides. Lessons explain topics such as installments, interest, fees, and labor rights through examples, practical cases, and warning signs. The tools show result breakdowns and the assumptions behind them to support learning.
I designed and built the mobile and web versions with Flutter, including the calculators and the way results are explained. The site received about 1,750 unique visitors during one month of measurement. I have also heard directly from people who use the calculators in everyday life.
